Why I Became a Dentist
From the beginning, Dr. Tolzmann had a deep interest in pursuing a career in healthcare as she wanted to help others. However, it wasn’t until she visited her childhood dentist that she considered becoming one herself. After their suggestion, she decided to shadow other dental professionals and work in a dental office during her summer breaks throughout her undergraduate studies. It was these extremely positive experiences that sparked her interest in the field of dentistry. The rest, as they say, is history.
My Dental Education & Training
Dr. Tolzmann first attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for her undergraduate degree. During this time, she worked in a dental practice performing sterilization and assisting. After graduating with her bachelor of science, she went on to study at the Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI to earn her dental degree. She then completed a one-year general practice residency at the Cleveland Clinic, which also provided her with additional training in dental procedures, managing dental emergencies, and treating medically compromised patients.
Today, Dr. Tolzmann continues to seek advanced training to refine her skills and expertise. She’s also a proud and active member of several professional organizations, such as the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).
Life Away From the Dental Practice
Outside of the dental office, Dr. Tolzmann likes practicing yoga, reading, running, and cooking/baking. She also enjoys exploring new restaurants and museums and has even traveled to Kazakhstan and Ethiopia. She and her husband were married in the fall of 2022. He’s a general surgery resident at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, and she’s extremely proud of him. The rest of her family lives in Wisconsin, and she loves visiting them whenever she can.
